›GSYDHTSWDWI‹ is a series of Image-Objects (Bildobjekte). Gauze bandages are layered on wooden stretchers until a diffuse white surface emerges. Black and white images – photocopied on colored paper – are loosely inserted between the layers. Most of the images are taken from somewhere – cut out, saved as, found – and depict artists, writers and musicians that mean the world to me. Whether you recognize these people or not, isn’t all that important. The images are selected (and collected) mostly for the gestures and expressions they depict. I guess I think of this work as some kind of fragmentary and very personal iconography of vulnerability. Think: Aby Warburg as depressed teenager
